Last updated: April 7, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to KidGwan. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Name, email address, and profile photo
  • Phone number (optional, used for SMS notifications)
  • Home address (optional, used for ride coordination)
  • Venmo handle (optional, used for payment requests)
  • Information about your children (name, age, allergies, emergency contacts)
  • Event details, chat messages, and photos you share within the app

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the KidGwan app
  • Facilitate event planning, ride coordination, and expense sharing among parents
  • Send notifications about events, rides, messages, and friend requests
  • Send SMS or email invitations on your behalf when you invite others
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and requests

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With other parents in your events — event details, your name, and contact info are visible to other participants of shared events.
  • With friends you connect with — your display name, username, and avatar are visible to your friends.
  • Service providers — we use Twilio (SMS) and Resend (email) to deliver messages on your behalf.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect safety.

5. Children's Privacy & Data Protection

KidGwan is committed to the highest standard of child data protection.

We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and applicable privacy laws. All child data is encrypted at rest and in transit and is never sold or used for advertising.

What we collect about children: Name, age/birthdate, allergies, medical notes, emergency contact information, school (optional), hobbies (optional), and a photo (optional). This data is provided solely by the legal guardian.

How child data is shared: Child profiles are only visible to parents you have explicitly invited to the same event. You control granular privacy settings per child — including who can see allergies, school, hobbies, and photo.

Guardian consent: By creating a child profile, the user confirms they are the legal guardian and consents to sharing selected information with other trusted parents during coordinated events. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Data lifecycle: Child information shared during an event is automatically limited once the event ends. You can change visibility settings or permanently delete any child profile at any time from the My Kids screen.

  • All child data is encrypted and never sold
  • Profiles are only visible to parents you invite to an event
  • You can change settings or delete any child profile at any time
  • We comply with COPPA and applicable privacy laws
  • Information is automatically limited after events end
  • Allergies are shown to event participants by default to help keep kids safe — all other data is private unless you choose to share it

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

  • Update or correct your profile information at any time in the Profile section
